Brian Shinn Brian Shinn
Brian Shinn currently serves as assistant general counsel and elections counsel to Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner. In this capacity, he advises the Secretary of State on general legal issues and Ohio's 88 boards of elections on elections law issues. Shinn previously worked as an Assistant Disciplinary Counsel for the Supreme Court of Ohio and as a judicial law clerk at the Ohio Tenth District Court of Appeals and at the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas.
Shinn previously practiced law as an associate attorney with the law firm of Mowery & Youell in Dublin, Ohio. His practice focused on family law, employment law, and family planning issues for the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender community.
Shinn has been actively involved in Columbus' LGBT community for over ten years. He served three terms as president of the Stonewall Democrats of Central Ohio and five years as a board member for the National Stonewall Democrats. Shinn is currently Parliamentarian for the Ohio Democratic Party and for the Franklin County Democratic Party. Shinn is also a member of the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Columbus. Shinn holds a bachelor's degree from West Virginia University and a juris doctor degree from The Ohio State University. |
