Mary Howard
Mary Howard is employed at the
Ohio State University as Director of Nursing. With an
operating budget of 35 million and 475 employees, Ms. Howard
is responsible for operations, strategic planning, and
program development.
Ms. Howard’s career includes 18 years
at Children’s Hospital in Columbus where she was assistant
nursing director, acting director of Surgical Nursing and
Nurse Manager.
In 1992 she joined the OhioHealth
System where she served as the director over a variety of
patient care areas, including Women’s Health, Oncology, and
Post Acute Services and was promoted to Vice President and
chief nursing officer at Grant Medical Center.
Ms. Howard received a Bachelor of
Science degree in nursing from Capital University and a
Master of Science degree in nursing from the Ohio State
University. Ms. Howard is a member of Sigma Theta Tau,
Honor Society of Nursing and is a graduate of Leadership
Columbus and United Way’s Project Diversity.
In addition to her role as Commissioner
on the Community Relations Commission, Ms. Howard serves on
the Board of Directors of CRIS (Community Refugee and
Immigration Services) and has volunteered time to the United
Way. She enjoys working with youth and is Vice Chair of
the Board and volunteer Coach for the Capitol City Comets
Track Club and advisor of the Teenage Usher Board at her
church.
